paired.gift ("we," "us") runs a gift-exchange organizing tool at paired.gift, available on the web and as iOS and Android apps. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled. It applies to everyone who uses paired.gift, on any platform — people who create an exchange ("organizers") and people who are added to or join one ("participants").
Information we collect
From organizers: your email address, used to send a passwordless login link and to identify exchanges you own.
From participants: name, email address, and optionally a phone number, entered either by the organizer or by the participant themselves when joining via an invite link. Phone numbers are collected but not currently used to send anything — they're stored for a possible future SMS reminder feature.
Exchange details: the exchange name, date, budget, an optional message from the organizer, and any wishlist items participants choose to add (free text and an optional link).
Automatically: our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes standard request data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) as part of serving the site and protecting it from abuse. We don't run separate analytics or tracking scripts ourselves.
Payment information: if you subscribe to paired.gift Pro or Plus, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — we only receive your subscription status and Stripe customer ID. If a participant subscribes to Plus, we create an account for them using the email address the exchange already has for them, so the subscription applies to every exchange they're part of and they can log in with that address to manage it.
How we use it
- To run the gift exchange: computing pairings, and emailing each participant their assignment privately.
- To send login links, reminder emails, and — only if you haven't opened your assignment yet — a one-time follow-up nudge.
- To let participants manage their own wishlist and see their assigned recipient's wishlist.
- To process subscription payments and manage your paired.gift Pro plan, if you subscribe.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service generally.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use participant data for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run paired.gift, each only for the purpose described:
- Cloudflare — hosting, database, and network security.
- Resend — delivering the emails paired.gift sends (login links, assignments, reminders).
- Stripe — payment processing for paired.gift Pro subscriptions.
- Google AdSense — on the free plan only, and only on the organizer's own dashboard and exchange-management pages (never on a participant's reveal or join page, and never in any email). AdSense may use cookies to personalize ads; subscribing to paired.gift Pro removes ads entirely. See Google's own how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We don't share your information with anyone else, except where required by law.
Cookies
paired.gift uses a single functional cookie to keep an organizer logged in after clicking their magic link. It's not used for tracking or advertising. If ads are shown (see above), Google AdSense may set its own cookies on those pages.
How participants access the site
Participants don't create an account or a password. Each participant gets a private, unguessable link to view their assignment and manage their wishlist. Anyone with that link can use it — treat it like you would any other private link. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link that removes you from future emails for that exchange.
Our iOS and Android apps
The mobile apps use the same paired.gift account and data described above — there's no separate mobile-only data collection. After you log in, your session is stored using your device's secure credential storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android), the same place apps store passwords, so it's protected by your device's own lock screen. The apps don't request access to your camera, contacts, location, or photos, don't include any advertising or analytics SDKs, and don't send push notifications.
Data retention and deletion
An organizer can delete an exchange at any time, which permanently removes that exchange and all of its participants, pairings, and wishlist data. We otherwise keep data for as long as the exchange exists. To request deletion of your information, or if you have any other privacy question, contact us at the address below.
Children
paired.gift is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
